Saudi Arabia Revises Requirements for Specific ICT Equipment

The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) of Saudi Arabia announced the revision of requirements for specific ICT equipment. Thus, according to the technical specification GEN002, such devices as mobile Phones, tablets, mobile computers, mobile routers and CPEs must support n1, n3, n8, n28, n40, n41, n71, n77 of 5G NR frequency band starting from July 2022

However, after receiving responses from manufacturers, the CITC decided to postpone the implementation of requirements regarding n71 of 5G NR frequency band.

It means that from July 1, 2022 in addition to the existing n41 and n78 bands, only the n1, n3, n8, n28, n40 and n77 bands will be required.

Nevertheless, the CITC invites manufacturers to work out measures for including n71 of 5G NR frequency band to their devices as they are still thinking on including requirements to n71 band for the above-mentioned devices in the future.
