New Zealand Amends Requirements for Short-Range Devices

Radio Spectrum Management (RSM) of New Zealand issued Radiocommunications Regulations (General User Radio Licence for Short Range Devices) Notice 2022 that became effective from August 1, 2022. It revokes the Radiocommunications Regulations (General User Radio Licence for Short Range Devices) Notice 2020. However,  transmitters that have been approved against requirements of the Notice 2020 before August 1, 2022 are still considered to be compliant with the requirements of the new version.

The key changes to the current version of the Notice:

  1. The use of Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) and of Transmit Power Control (TPC) are limited within the 5150-5350 MHz band. According to the new Regulation, it is possible to apply DFS and TPC only to 5250-5350 MHz
  2. Special conditions for low and very low power devices operating on 5925-6425 MHz frequency bands are added
  3. In “Special condition 22” the frequency range are extended from 57-66 GHz to 57-71 GHz and the requirement is now applicable not just for Systems intended for indoor use only.
