
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) of the Ministry of Power, Government of India has reminded all interested parties to follow regulations on displaying of BEE Star Labels for appliances on e-commerce platforms and other points of sales.
There are 39 appliances under the Standards and Labelling (S&L) program, of which:
All such appliances must comply with the specific standards and regulations. Сonformity is verified through market surveillance procedure by testing the BEE star labeled products.
All products under the S&L program must display:
It is mandatary to avoid displaying multiple labels from different models on a single appliance at the point of sale.
An electronic version of the label must be displayed as one of the pictures shown in the appliance model listing page on e-marketplaces. Additionally, it is necessary to display star labels not only on product pages but also in search result previews, shopping cart summaries, and checkout pages
Please note, that platforms must also integrate filters allowing consumers to sort and compare products based on BEE star ratings.
It is forbidden to display labels on any model of appliance that doesn't have permission from BEE.
Failure to comply with the BEE label displaying rules will result in penal actions under Indian law, including the Energy Conservation Act.
