Bermuda Updates Regulations on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Technologies

The Regulatory Authority (RA) of Bermuda has issued a Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Device Exemption Memo. According to this memo, RA grants type approval for devices operating on Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi radio frequencies only without requiring conformity assessment procedure.

Please note, the allowed frequency ranges, maximum output power, and the IEEE standards that can be used in the devices are as follows:

However, the RA informs that such devices must still comply with the technical regulations promulgated by any of the following bodies:

  • The Federal Communications Commission of the United States of America (FCC)
  • The Canadian Standards Association International (ISED)
  • The United Kingdom/European Union (ETSI)

Additionally, the device must have the corresponding markings or labels showing compliance with above-mentioned regulations in order to be placed on the market in Bermuda and to operate within its territory.
