The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) updated the Type Approval procedure concerning, among others, the sample requirements, family approval, and billing method of the NCC.

Homologation of telecoms devices is now possible under the following conditions:

1. The NCC now allows a Family Approval for models that come in series and or families. In that case, the product should share the same test report.  
2. One sample should be provided for notebooks, tablets, and mobile phones. For any other equipment type, a sample can be requested at any time. Samples won't be returned by the NCC.  
3. The billing method for a Family Approval is different from other countries. In Nigeria, it is subsidized.
