Thailand Implements New MEPS Requirements for Washing Machines

The Royal Gazette of Thailand published the Regulation of the Thai Ministry of Industry on energy efficiency requirements for washing machines at the end of August 2021. According to this regulation, the Ministry implements a minimum energy performance standard (MEPS) for household washing machines.

Thus, starting from February 27, 2022 electric mains-operated household washing machines and household washer-dryers, including built-in household washing machines and household washer-dryers and electric mains-operated household washing machines and household washer-dryers that can also be powered by batteries must follow the requirements of Thai technical standard TIS 1462-2562 “Clothes Washing Machines for Household Use – Energy Efficiency Requirements” to get access to the Thai market. The national standard was developed based on the international standard on energy efficiency requirements for washing machines in order to harmonize national legislation with the international one.

These actions were introduced to protect consumers and have quality and safe products on the market.

The Thai standard itself you can find here.
