The Department of Energy (DOE) of the Philippines published a notification on February 10, 2025 regarding energy labels for electric fans and clothes washing machines informing all interested parties about implementation timeline for specific energy product requirements.

Electric fans and clothes washing machines must be registered under the Philippine Energy Labeling Program (PELP), which started on March 25, 2024. The DOE has provided a two-years transition period, during which it will work on expanding the list of recognized testing laboratories to ensure testing facilities available across different locations.

The energy labeling regulation is expected to be fully enforced by March 2026. However, the specific date for program enforcement will depend on the availability of testing facilities or emergency of some serious concerns.

Electric fans covered under specific product requirements within PELP should be tested according to, but not limited to, PNS IEC 60879.

Clothes washing machines covered under specific product requirements within PELP should be tested according to, but not limited to, PNS IEC 60456.

Specific product requirements within PELP are indicated in implementing guidelines for each product that you can find via the links below.

Please note, the DOE will officially inform all interested parties at least six (6) months before the start of enforcement activities to ensure that they are prepared.
