Korea Notifies on National Broadcasting and Communications Standards Revision

The National Radio Research Agency of Korea (RRA) has issued an announcement on December 30, 2025. The RRA informs about changes in national legislation with regards to national standards in the field of broadcasting and communications that became effective from December 31, 2025

Thus, the RRA provided the following four Notices:

  • Notice 2025-21 that establishes 76 KS standards in the Information sector (x) for a period of 5 years;
  • Notice 2025-20 that repeals 16 KS standards that became insufficient effectiveness due to reduced usability in the domestic product and service sector or were based on the international standards that are currently invalid;
  • Notice 2025-19 that contains 9 revised KS standards;
  • Notice 2025-18 enacted 9 KS national standards worked out on the base of international and TTAK (Telecommunications Technology Association) Standards.

The Notice 2025-20 repeals the following national standards: 

  1. KS X 3065 - Telewriting Terminal Standard;
  2. KS X 3087 - Wireless Internet Content Access System
  3. KS X 3132 - Test Method for Electromagnetic Compatibility of TRS Devices
  4. KS X 3133 - Test Method for Electromagnetic Compatibility of Wireless Devices for Mobile Communications
  5. KS X 3169 - TOKEN-BUS Functional Standard
  6. KS X 3170 - TOKEN-RING Functional Standard
  7. KS X ISO/IEC TR 10183-1 Implementation Test Guidelines for Office Document Architecture (ODA) and interchange format; Part 1: Test Methods;
  8. KS X ISO/IEC TR 10183-2 Implementation Test Guidelines for Office Document Architecture (ODA) and interchange format; Part 2: Framework for abstract test cases;
  9. KS X ISO/IEC TR 10183-3 Implementation Test Guidelines for Office Document Architecture (ODA) and interchange format; Part 3: Test Procedures;
  10. KS X ISO/IEC 8571-1 File Transfer, Access, and Management General introduction;
  11. KS X ISO/IEC 8571-5 File Transfer, Access, and Management; Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement Proforma;
  12. KS X ISO/IEC 9314-1 FDDI; Token Ring Physical Layer Protocol (PHY)
  13. KS X ISO/IEC 9595 Open Systems Interconnection - Common Management Information Service; 
  14. KS X ISO/IEC 9596-1 Open Systems Interconnection - Common Management Information Protocol;
  15. KS X ISO/IEC 9804 Open Systems Interconnection - Service definition for the Commitment, Concurrency and Recovery service element
  16. KS X ISO/IEC 9805 Open Systems Interconnection - Protocol specification for the Commitment, Concurrency and Recovery service element
