India Extends List of Products Subject to Compulsive Approval

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) of India issued the Notification with the list of items under the Compulsory Registration Order within Phase V on October 1, 2020.


According to this Notification, new product categories are added to the Schedule of the Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2012.


The following categories of products were added within Phase V:

Thus, the list of products requiring mandatory approval against BIS standards to get access to the Indian market was updated with 7 categories.


The provisions of “Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2012” shall apply to the above-mentioned products that are added to the Schedule within Phase V from April 1, 2021.
