Egypt Adopts ES 2501-1 for Audio/Video, Information and Communication Technology Equipment

The Ministry of Industry (MTI) of Egypt approved a national standard on safety requirements for Audio/video, information and communication technology equipment by issuing Ministerial Decree No. 7/2025 on February 11, 2025. According to the Decree, the new Egyptian standard ES 2501-1 "Audio/video, information and communication technology equipment - Part 1: Safety requirements becomes valid in six months to give manufacturers and importers time to prepare for the new national requirements. The decree follows the earlier notification of Egyptian standard ES 2501 and Decree No. 241/2016. The new standard cancels standard ES 2501.

Please note, requirements stated in the ES 2501-1/2024 correspond to the information indicated in the international standard IEC 62368-1/2023 “Audio/video, information and communication technology equipment - Part 1: Safety requirements”.

The standard will be mandatory to show the compliance of the product against safety requirements to get access to the Egyptian market.
