China Updates Rules for 5G Mobile Devices

The GMA Consult Group kindly reminds about the announcement that the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China (CNCA) has made with regard to mandatory product certification requirements for 5G mobile user terminals.

The CNCA issued the note in August 2020. The document specifies that 5G mobile user terminals are subject to CCC certification according to the Catalogue of the First Batch of Products Subject to Compulsory Product Certification (AQSIQ and CNCA Joint Announcement No. 33, 2001).

Within the certification procedure, the 5G Mobile User Terminals must meet requirements of the YD/T2583.18 standard “Requirement and measurement methods of electromagnetic compatibility for cellular mobile telecommunication equipment -- Part 18: 5G user equipment and ancillary equipment”.

For those 5G Mobile User Terminals that earlier obtained CCC certificates against 4G requirements, it is necessary to apply for additional testing against YD/T2583.18 requirements and renew the CCC certificate before June 30, 2021. Otherwise, the certificate will be terminated.
