Canada Establishes New Requirements for Wireless Device Testing Laboratories

Within a conformity assessment procedure, Innovation, Science and Economic Development of Canada (ISED) warns about new requirements for laboratories testing wireless devices. The rules became effective from March 15, 2019.

Starting from this date, all wireless devices testing laboratories have to be recognized by ISED to meet Canadian requirements for wireless products.

It means that ISED no longer accepts non-accredited test sites for registration. If you want to register or renew a test site, you have to request for accreditation.

The procedures for becoming a recognized laboratory can be found in DES-Lab and REC-Lab for domestic or foreign test laboratories respectively.

Thus, manufacturers of wireless devices should pay attention to the accreditation area of the testing laboratories if they don't want to to be denied for registration by the NCB of Canada within a conformity assessment procedure.
