Brazil Changes Conformity Assessment Procedure for Access Terminal Stations and Mobile Cell Phones

The technical requirements to conformity assessment procedure for access terminal stations and mobile cell phones were changed in Brazil.

Thus, National telecommunication agency of Brazil (ANATEL) modified previous procedures according to new versions of European standards. Additional requirements were established to:

  • mobile cell phones that have hardware capable of receiving signals from the sound broadcasting service in modulated frequency (FM)
  • 5G NR technologies
  • the Cat NB2 standard (NB-IoT)

According to ANATEL, if the approved product will be put to the market of Brazil with the new combinations of 4G and 5G dual connectivity (EN-DC combinations), the manufacturer should provide new test reports to ANATEL by the end of April, 2022

Now when applying for approval, mobile cell phones that have hardware capable of receiving signals from the sound broadcasting service in modulated frequency (FM) must be accompanied by the declaration on proving the enabling of the mobile phone to receive signals from the sound broadcasting service in modulated frequency (FM).

Please, be advised, that ANATEL updated and added the following list of standards for application with conformity assessment procedure of access terminal station and mobile cell phones:

  • ETSI TS 136 521-1 V16.8.1 (2021-06) - LTE; Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA); User Equipment (UE) conformance specification; Radio transmission and reception; Part 1: Conformance testing (3GPP TS 36.521-1 version 16.8.1 Release 16);
  • ETSI TS 138 521-1 V16.6.0 (2021-02) - 5G; NR; User Equipment (UE) conformance specification; Radio transmission and reception; Part 1: Range 1 standalone (3GPP TS 38.521-1 version 16.6.0 Release 16);
  • ETSI TS 138 521-3 V16.6.0 (2021-01) - 5G; NR; User Equipment (UE) conformance specification; Radio transmission and reception; Part 3: Range 1 and Range 2 Interworking operation with other radios (3GPP TS 38.521-3 version 16.6.0 Release 16).
  • ETSI TS 138 521-2 V16.6.0 (2021-02) - 5G; NR; User Equipment (UE) conformance specification; Radio transmission and reception; Part 2: Range 2 standalone (3GPP TS 38.521-2 version 16.6.0 Release 16).
