Belarus Reviews Energy Efficiency Requirements

Currently, if you are the manufacturer of the energy-using device, your product must follow the national EE requirements to get access to the market of Belarus. Energy efficiency requirements and energy labelling requirements were enacted by the Decision of the Council of Ministers in 2016. The Decision contains the list of energy-using products and information on the standards with EE requirements. Among the listed products, we would like to point out the following:

New versions of Energy efficiency standards became effective from November 1, 2020. However, the previous versions remained effective up to January 1, 2021.

Energy labelling standards were amended. The amendments became effective from December 1, 2020.

Thus, the following versions of Energy efficiency standards are in force now in Belarus:

It is necessary to say that the major changes do not influence the energy efficiency requirements and control methods. Generally, changes concern standards’ structure and terms and definitions. That is why there is no need to carry out testing of the certified products to prove the compliance of the product with the new versions of the standards.

In the table below, there are labeling standards that were amended recently:

The key changes concern the labeling itself. Thus, for TV-sets, additional A+++ class was added and E-class was removed. Now the label should look following way:

On the label for air conditioners, the link to the standard STB 2480 was removed:

Please, note that the energy label that was effective in 2019 is excluded from the standard. Thus, manufacturers of the certified product must check that the energy label on the product is in compliance with the actual requirements.
