Softlines Safety Approvals in the EAEU

August 22, 2019

Softlines and textiles must comply with the EAEU technical regulations before being imported to the EAEU market.

Conformity of the product with the requirements of the EAEU TRs is ensured by meeting safety requirements of the Technical Regulations (such as EAEU TR 017/2011 On safety of light industry products and EAEU TR 007/2011 On safety of products for kids and teenagers), directly and/or by applying the requirements of the standards from the list of interrelated standards that are the integral part of each EAEU Technical Regulation.

Conformity assessment procedure is based on the implementation of the main requirements indicated in the EAEU TR.

As for  EAEU TR 017/2011, the following requirements should be met:

Mechanical:

  • tensile strength

  • holding strength

  • flexing

  • impact strength

Chemical:

  • maximum permitted emission of harmful chemical substances in the air and/or water medium

Biological:

  • hygroscopic property

  • porosity

  • water resistance

  • electrostatic intensity

  • the toxicity index or local irritation

  • color fastness

With regards to the EAEU TR 007/2011, these requirements are the following:

Mechanical:

  • size of the product

  • weight

  • shape

  • tensile strength

Chemical:

  • maximum permitted emission of harmful chemical substances in the air and/or water medium

Biological:

  • electrostatic intensity

  • color fastness

  • hygroscopic property

  • porosity

  • the toxicity index

Unfortunately, the majority of interrelated to the EAEU TR 017/2011 and EAEU TR 007/2011 standards are not harmonized with IEC/EN standards. It means that local testing is required. Moreover, the testing can be carried out only in the lab that is accredited within national accreditation system of EAEU members and enlisted into the single register of certification bodies and testing laboratories (centers) of the EAEU.

Thus, for softlines and textiles in most cases it is needed to provide samples for testing.

GMA Consult Group has a huge experience in the field of conformity assessment procedure within EAEU regulations as well as good relationship with the majority of accredited testing labs and know the key details how to speed up the process of getting local test reports and required EAEU conformity documents. GMA Consult Group is ready to assist your company in getting required EAEU approval with almost zero efforts from your side.
