On July 6, 2019, the Ministry of Transports and Communication (MTC) of Perú published a new Resolution R.VM. Nº 464-2019-MTC/03. The document establishes the channelling of the bands 2,500-2,690 MHz at the national level for telecommunications services (1st part) according to the following scheme:
At the same date, the MTC published for public consultation the Resolution R.VM.Nº 463-2019-MTC/03 which incorporates the channelling of the bands 1,710–1,780 MHz and 2,110–2,180 MHz at the national level, and the bandS 3,300 – 3,800 MHz at the national level for telecommunications services.
On July 9, 2019, the MTC published a public consultation on the use of the 3.5GHz band for 5G technology through the Resolution RM Nº 523-2019-MTC/01.03. The MTC proposes to reorder the 3,400-3,800MHz range (3.5 GHz) in order to make its allocation available for services of International Mobile Telecommunications-Advanced (IMT) and with a view to promoting the introduction and expansion of 5G technology. The order also proposed an increase in spectrum caps suggesting upper limits of 60MHz for combined sub-1GHz spectrum holdings, and 280MHz for middle band spectrum – covering the 1,900 MHz, 2,100 MHz, 2,300 MHz, 2,500 MHz and 3,500 MHz ranges.
The government also seeks to increase spectrum caps in medium bands to 280MHz. The consultation includes a proposal to channel the 3.5GHz band in 5MHz blocks to maximize high-speed transmission and promote its application for IoT and smart cities.
In addition, the MTC through Resolution RM № 522-2019-MTC/01.03 approved lifting a cap on the 2.3GHz and 2.5GHz bands allowing operators to implement new functions. It also promotes the adoption of advanced technologies for the provision of better telecommunications services, with higher quality standards and at more accessible rates.
