The Commonwealth of Independent States (hereinafter - CIS) is a regional intergovernmental organization. The members of CIS are the following post-soviet republics:
Its outstanding features are the liaison in nearly all areas of interstate communication, the flexibility of mechanisms, and cooperation format.
The CIS is an important mechanism for holding the interstate consultations and negotiations for the arrangement of many-sided mutual cooperation within the CIS.
However, each member of the CIS has its own conformity assessment procedure for imported products as well as conformity marks. Some marks are mandatory, some of them are voluntary for affixing.
Let’s explore the requirements to the conformity mark for electrical wireless and telecom products applicable within the territory of each CIS member:
As you can see, in most cases national conformity marks for electrical wireless and telecom products are voluntary in CIS countries. The mandatory application of the conformity marks is required when:
products must meet national Technical Regulations of Belarus
products apply for SM mark to get access to the market of Moldova
products must meet national Technical Regulations of Ukraine
Keep in mind that Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia are not only members of CIS but the EAEU as well. Thus, the products that are going to be placed on the market of these countries should have the EAC mark according to the EAEU TR requirements.
