Chile Revises Type Approval Procedure

May 11, 2020

The Secretaría de Telecomunicaciones (SUBTEL) of Chile issued a new document “Protocolo de Certificación de Equipos de Alcance Reducido, Año 2020.” According to it, to apply for certification the applicant must fill in the certification request in Spanish and indicate information on the manufacturer, detailed description of the device, and used technologies. There also should be attached additional documents such as:

  • Photos that allow identifying the location of the antennas, connectors in the device

  • Photos of the device itself

  • Description of equipment functionality

  • Block diagram of its components

  • User manual

  • RF Test Report

  • SAR Test Report

Subtel can also issue certificates for modules. To get such certificates, manufacturers need to prove that models are radio electrically identical. Applicant should have relevant test reports for the models and respective photos that allow identifying each model.

Please, also note than modular test reports for host system approval will not be accepted.
