Brazil Establishes Temporary Measures for Conformity Assessment of Telecommunication Products

March 19, 2020

National telecommunication authority of Brazil (ANATEL) released an official notice #134/2020/ORCN/SOR-ANATEL on March 6, 2020. The Notice concerns emergency measures caused by the coronavirus epidemic (COVID-19).

According to the IAF Publications (IAF Informative Document For Management of Extraordinary Events or Circumstances Affecting ABs, CABs and Certified Organizations),  ANATEL took the decision to implement emergency measures to reduce the possible impact on activities that relate to certification procedure of telecommunications products as well as periodic maintenance of the certificates.

It is announced that renewal testing will not be required for devices that do not have significant changes in construction with comparison to the previous renewal or certification procedures. There is also no need to provide photos and test reports within the renewal maintenance processes

However, these measures can be applied only to Certificates of Conformity that will expire until June 31, 2020.
