On January 10, 2019, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) published Announcement № 285 with new regulations for wireless products.
As of March 1, 2019, products that are certified by the State Radio Regulatory Commission (SRRC) must follow a sales reporting process. All SRRC-approved products including SRRC-approved modules are within the scope of this requirement, except short-range micro-power devices (if approved before, they don't need to be registered again).
Resellers (if a product has several resellers, each reseller needs to register separately), importers, local representative, manufacturers (if they sell to clients directly) or online sales companies will be required to register within 10 working days after selling the product. A local Chinese company will be required to register with the MIIT via a web portal xsba.miit.gov.cn.
Once the entity is registered with the MIIT, a registration number and a QR code are to be issued. The registration number and QR code must be attached at a visible location in the distribution store or on the website (in case the product is sold online). If there is no store or website, the salesman should keep the registration number and QR code properly. The customers can scan the QR code to get information about the product and its SRRC certification. Sales numbers are not required to be reported.
