Mexico Publishes Draft of Energy Efficiency Requirements for AC Motors
The Energy Secretariat (Secretaria de Energia) of Mexico published a draft version of the mandatory standard PROY-NOM-033-ENER-2018 “Energy Efficiency of Air Cooled AC motors with nominal power greater than or equal to 1W and less than 180W. Limits, test methods, and marking”. The document appeared in the Official Gazette on December 12, 2018.
This draft will be effective in 120 calendar days after its publication. According to this standard, all air cooled AC motors within the scope of the standard must be certified.
However, if a product was imported to the country before the publication of the standard, it is not required to confirm the compliance of the product to this standard.
According to the standard, the energy efficiency rate of motors that are within the scope of this document must be as specified below:
Energy efficiency of shaded-pole motors
Energy efficiency of permanent-split capacitor motor
Energy efficiency of electronically commutated motors
