Japan Updates Regulations for Wireless Devices
Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications amends the regulations for Radio Equipment. It establishes the exposure limit value of incident power density from the radio equipment according to the Draft ICNIRP Guidelines "Guidelines for limiting exposure to time-varying electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields (100 kHz TO 300 GHz)".
The document enables the use of wireless devices operating over 6 GHz frequency band in direct proximity to the human body.
The key amendments are the following:
the value of incident power density for the radio equipment operating within 20 cm from the human body is limited according to the table below
methods of measuring the incident power density at the human body and head are set and all the radio equipment should be tested against incident power density requirements
the radio equipment outside the scope of these regulations is specified in the table below
It is planned that the amendments will come into force in April 2019.
