Canada Updates Interference-Causing Equipment Standard for Lighting Equipment
Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) has published the Interference-Causing Equipment Standard ICES-005, Issue 5. The document was published in December 2018 and established additional requirements for Lighting Equipment.
The main changes that occur in Issue 5:
Types of lighting equipment are clarified
Some examples are added to Section 1
Requirements that are specified in ICES-Gen — General Requirements for Compliance of Interference-Causing Equipment — are removed from the ICES-005
However, the reference to the ICES-Gen is included in Section 4 with regards to the requirement in ICES-Gen that are not in contradictions with requirements of the ICES-005 standard.
Please notice, two versions of the standard ICES-005, Issue 4 and Issue 5, are accepted up to June 1, 2019. After this date, all products subject to this standard shall comply only with the requirements of ICES-005, Issue 5, to be sold in the market of Canada.
