Panama Extends Compliance Deadlines for AC Equipment, Refrigerators, Freezers, and Motors

On December 26, 2018, the Panamanian Ministry of Commerce and Industry approved Resolution № 151. The document extends compliance deadlines of Technical Regulations on Energy Efficiency and Labeling for the following types of products: 

 

  • air conditioners of the following types: inverter, split, window, and central 

  • refrigerators

  • freezers

  • three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors

 

It should be considered that the requirements for the minimum energy efficiency levels and labeling for the above-mentioned products imported to Panama will come into force from June 30, 2019. Starting from December 30, 2019, the products that are not compliant with the foregoing requirements will be prohibited for sale to end-users in Panama.
