Croatia Issues Draft Amendment of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Legislation

February 7, 2019

Croatian government has published a draft amendment of the domestic WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) legislation.

This document is aimed at resolving some differences between the European Directive and the national legislation of Croatia.

The main point concerns fee charging and registration of manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment. As the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund (EPEEF) governs the fee charging and collection system as well as the waste management system, national manufacturers must be registered in the EPEEF. Foreign manufacturers according to the Croatian legislation must have an authorized representative in Croatia to register in the Fund.

This liability exists in the most EU countries for WEEE and for packaging.
