Thailand Authorizes the Use of UWB Devices Operating at 1.6-10.6 GHz Frequency Bands

February 6, 2019

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) in Thailand has just announced the following notifications:

- Notification of NBTC on Criteria of authorization of the frequency used by UWB      devices operating at 1.6-10.6 GHz frequency bands

- Notification of NBTC on Technical standard for UWB devices operarting at 1.6-        10.6 GHz frequency bands (Technical Standard NBTC TS 1034-2561)

However, this notification has not been announced in the Royal Gazette yet and the announcement is expected during February 2019. This notification will come into effect from the day following the date of its publication in the Royal Gazette.

The above-mentioned technical standard is a final version. The Thai government is only waiting for the official announcement. This means that applicants can arrange testing according to this standard in advance. Once the standard is announced in the Royal Gazette, we can proceed class A type approval certificate immediately.

Starting from January 3, 2019,  it is necessary to apply for Class A type approval to be able to import and sell UWB devices in Thailand.
