EU Sets Timelines for Mandatory Registration of Energy-Related Equipment in the Product Database
According to the Regulation (EU) 2017/1369 of the European Parliament and of the Council dated by July 4, 2017, which sets a framework for energy labeling and amends Directive 2010/30/EU, suppliers shall register energy-related products in the product database. Starting from January 2019, registration is mandatory for all models of the relevant products that are placed on the EU market from July 4, 2017. Registration of the models that were placed before this date is voluntary.
Thus, new models that will be placed on the market from January 2019 must be registered in the product database.
Models that are placed on the market from August 1, 2017 to January 1, 2019 must be registered in the database until the end of June 2019.
Models that were placed on the market before August 17, 2017 are not mandatory for the registration in the database.
The relevant information must be indicated in the database according to the Annex I of the Regulation and must include the following:
the name or trademark, address, contact details, and other legal identification of the supplier
the model identification
the label in the electronic format
the energy efficiency class and other characteristics
the product information sheet
Please, note that if a model is no longer sold on the market, the supplier should add this information to the database as well.
