Argentina Updates Market Access Procedure for Electrical and Telecom Products
A new Resolution 169/2018 on the Essential Safety Requirements for Low-Voltage Electrical Equipment came in force in Argentina.
The main purpose of this Resolution is to ensure that electrical equipment entering the Argentine Republic complies with the requirements that provide a high level of safety for the country. It applies to the low-voltage electrical equipment that operates between 50 and 1,000 V AC and between 75 and 1,500 V DC.
Some changes in the product safety confirmation system were made:
System №4 (S-type), System №5 (S-mark) and System №7 (S-batch) of the Resolution 197/2004 can be used until December 31, 2019.
Starting from January 1st, 2020, the product safety certification described in the Resolution will be made exclusively in accordance with System №5 (S-Mark) of conformity marking or System № 7 (S-batch) for the batch of product. However, an authority may authorize the product safety certification by System №4 (S-type) when specific characteristics of the electrical equipment allows this.
