The Council of the EAEU adopted amendments to TR TC 007/2017 “On the safety of products for children and teenagers”. These changes came in force in October 2018.
There are some important changes that allow manufacturers to significantly reduce expenses during the conformity assessment procedure:
Now, it is allowed to use only one standard sample for several age groups as well as a material sample from which the product was made, as a standard sample for small-sized products.
According to the above-mentioned, suits, including school uniforms, belong to the second layer in case when the lining is missing or occupies less than 40% of the top of the product, and the clothes will be considered as the third layer when the lining occupies at least 40% of the area. The division of clothing into the second and third layers is fundamental since technical regulations set more stringent requirements for products of the second layer.
Now the restriction concerns only the use of artificial leather in the lining of children's shoes. Thus, the amendments allow using modern artificial materials with improved consumer properties in the lining of children's shoes.
These amendments as well as the number of others will help to improve production efficiency while meeting the safety requirements for children's products.
