Pre-Shipment Program of Conformity Verification
The following product categories fall under the Pre-Shipment Program of Conformity Verification:
Lamps (light bulbs)
Thermosolar systems and components
Ceramic sanitary appliances
Portable fire extinguishers
Regulation of the Pre-Shipment Program of Conformity Verification mandated by the Industrial Research Institute (IRI).
Requirements for Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment
Conformity with the requirements for Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (R&TTE) is proved by the Certificate of Conformity and regulated by the Telecommunications Law 431 of 2002.
All the Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment should get approval before being improted
1. R&TTE products are divided into the following classes:
Class 0: Simple R&TTE which requires conformity with the minimum type approval requirements (GSM handsets, Bluetooth (Bluetooth Class 2 and 3), Radio Hearing Aids)
Class 1: Simple R&TTE which operates in a confined environment mostly limited to the customer premises (Single line equipment directly connecting to analogue PSTN services, Fax machines, Analogue modems, Wi-Fi/RLAN/HiperLAN/ (indoor use only), Bluetooth (Bluetooth Class1), etc.)
Class 2: R&TTE equipment which is more sophisticated and operates in a wider range than Class 1 (Analogue Cordless Telephones, Radio Microphones, Commercial Amateur Radio, Short range Radio Telemetry)
Class 3: Advanced R&TTE which may have a significant impact on the network, security, safety, and/or regulations (Pay telephones, HDSL Modem, Fixed Links, Short Range Radio (Family Radio))
2. The Base Station equipment such as GSM, UMTS, WiMax Base Stations, and Radio repeaters

R&TTE products are to be marked with the following labels:
The base station equipment such as GSM, UMTS, WiMax Base Stations, and Radio repeaters—Network Infrastructure Equipment (NIE).
A service provider, in coordination with an authorized dealer (who has a network equipment import/manufacture license, if applicable) shall compile a Technical Compliance Folder (TCF), Declaration of Use (DoU), Declaration of Conformity (DoC).
Conformity assessment is proved by a Network Approval Certificate.
Conclusion: Electrical and R&TTE products can be placed to the Lebanon market if they comply with all applicable telecom and safety requirements.
