Guide to Electrical and R&TT Products Market Access in Saudi Arabia

Requirements of Gulf Technical Regulation for the Low-Voltage Electrical Equipment and Appliances
Safety Requirements
Compliance with the safety requirements is proven by the Certificate of Conformity and regulated by the Article 3 of SASO by-laws issued in accordance with the Royal Decree №M/10 dated 03/03/1392H. This document lays down the rules of issuing the Certificates of Conformity and application of the Quality Marks and describes the rights of use of these certificates and marks.
Requirements for Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment
Compliance with the Requirements for Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (R&TTE) is proven by the Certificate of Conformity and regulated by Telecom Act and The Telecoms Act Bylaws. The documents establish the rules for conformity assessment—the procedure for approving and importing Telecommunications and IT equipment. All the Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment is to be approved before import.
Energy Efficiency Requirements
The following products are subject to the Certificate for Energy Efficiency Label and the EE Label must be affixed on such a products:
air conditioners
refrigerators
washing machines
lightning products
motors
The regulation foк the energy efficient label was issued in 2010 according to the 3rd, 4th, and 9th Articles of the SASO regulation issued by the Royal Decree №216 dated by 06.17.1431.

Requirements of the Gulf Technical Regulation
The Standardization Organization of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GSO) includes the following members: the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Qatar, State of Kuwait, and the Republic of Yemen.
Requirements of the Gulf Technical Regulation for Low-Voltage Electrical Equipment and Appliances (BD-142004-01) must be confirmed by the G-Mark Certificate.
The follwing product categories fall under the scope of the Technical Regulation from July 1st, 2016:
Domestic electrical fans
Refrigerators, freezers, and other refrigerating or freezing equipment
Centrifugal clothes dryers and clothes washing machines
Food grinders and mixers, fruit or vegetable juice extractors
Toasters
Electro-thermic hair-dressing apparatus and hand dryers
Domestic electric heating apparatus
Microwave ovens
Other ovens, cookers, cooking plates, boiling rings, grillers, and roasters
Electric instantaneous or storage water heaters and immersion heaters
Electric smoothing irons
Plugs, socket outlets, adaptors, cord extension sets, and chargers
Air conditioners
