Guide to Jordan Market Access for Electrical and R&TT Products

The following requirements are applicable to electrical and R&TT products to get access to the Jordan market:

 

  • Safety

  • Telecom

  • Energy Efficiency

 

Safety Requirements

 

Safety requirements are confirmed by the JSMO Approval Letter for products exported to Jordan and regulated by The Law of Standards & Metrology №22 as of 2000 issued by The Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO).

 

Requirements for Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment

 

Requirements for Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (R&TTE) are confirmed by the TRC type approval (TRA CoC) and regulated by the Telecom Law №13 as of 1995 and its amendments. The regulatory body is The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan  Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC).

 

Energy Efficiency Requirements

 

The following product categories are subject to Energy Efficiency Requirements:

 

  • Air conditioners

  • Refrigerators

  • Washing machines

  • Electric lamps

  • Dishwashers

  • Combined washer-driers

  • Electric ovens

  • Clothes dryers

  • TV sets

 

All these products must contain the EE label.

 

The use of the energy efficiency label is regulated by the Jordanian Decision on Technical Regulations on Ecodesign and Energy Labelling of Electrical Products, Resolution №1, 2014.

Conclusion: Electrical and R&TT products can be imported to the Jordan market if they comply with all the applicable Safety, Telecom, and Energy Efficiency requirements.
