New Radio Frequency Spectrum Assignment Plans in South Africa

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has published its Rules for Services operating in the following frequency bands:
138–143.6 MHz
150.5–153 MHz
380–400 MHz
2285–2300 MHz
New Radio Frequency Spectrum Assignment Plans have been published in the National Gazette No. 41512 and have come into force since March 23, 2018. The documents also establish the requirements for proper use of the above-mentioned frequency bands (including technical characteristics of radio systems, frequency channeling, coordination, details on required migration of existing users of a band, and expected methods of assignment). These Radio Frequency Spectrum Assignment Plans replace all the previous spectrum assignment arrangements for the same spectrum locations.
Conclusion: All the devices falling under the new Radio Frequency Spectrum Assignment Plans must comply with the established requirements.
