Mozambique Defines the List of Prohibited Radio and Telecommunication Equipment

May 14, 2018

On March 14, 2018, the communication regulatory authority of Mozambique—INCM—prohibited the use of radio communication and telecommunication equipment that causes harmful interference to different telecom services.

The list of prohibited equipment includes:

  1. Devices operating in the frequency bands 1900MHz- 2100MHz;

  2. Devices that enable illegal call termination (for example, a SIM box);

  3. Equipment causing a risk for health or for terrestrial, maritime or aeronautic mobile services (e.g. Samsung Galaxy Note 7 mobile phones);

  4. Equipment without an import declaration from the INCM;

  5. Equipment without homologation or certification from the INCM;

  6. Equipment with no evaluation from the INCM.

Conclusion: Radio communication and telecommunication equipment without homologation or certification by the INCM is not allowed for the distribution and use on the territory of Mozambique. The prohibited devices will be confiscated by the regulator.
