Transition Period for Non-Compliant Radio Equipment Expired in Ukraine

On May 24, 2017, the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers adopted Resolution № 355 featuring the Technical Regulation on Radio Equipment in Ukraine. The document came into force on April 1, 2018.

This Resolution established a transition period for radio equipment that does not comply with the requirements of the Technical Regulation and this period expired on April 1, 2019.

The Technical Regulation aims at harmonization of the national legislation with the European Directive 2014/53/EU related to the market access of radio equipment.  It provides a legal framework for placing products on the market and applies to all forms of delivery including e-commerce and distance selling.

The radio equipment that falls under the scope of this TR must comply with the essential requirements on safety and health as well as electromagnetic compatibility set out in this Technical Regulation. It must be designed in a way to operate and maintain the efficient use of radio frequency resources while avoiding harmful interference. If a transmitter is properly installed, maintained, and used for its intended purpose, the equipment should emit radio waves that do not cause harmful interference and simultaneously unwanted radiation. In addition, receivers must have a level of sensitivity, selectivity, and other characteristics that allow them to work properly and protect them from the risk of harmful interference.

Manufacturers must apply their company's name, registered trade name or registered trademark, and postal address for contact on the device. If it is not possible due to the size or nature of the equipment, the information should be provided on its package or in the accompanying documents.
