Singapore Revises Minimum Energy Performance Standards for Some Categories of Products

The National Environment Agency’s (NEA) of Singapore informed on the revision of Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) as well as The Mandatory Energy Labelling Scheme (MELS) for four appliance types on June 8, 2021. The NEA has risen the energy efficiency requirements to:

  • Refrigerators
  • Clothes dryers
  • Casement and window air-conditioners
  • Split-type air-conditioners

It was done to help household appliances become more energy efficient that allows for reducing  energy consumption and carbon emissions in the household sector.

The following new MEPS requirements will become effective from January 1, 2022:


  • Refrigerators

  • Clothes dryers

  • Casement and window air-conditioners

  • Split-type air-conditioners
