The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has issued a list of new products that will require a mandatory SASO IECEE Recognition Certificate from July 1, 2021.  SASO IECEE Recognition Certificate guarantees that certified products are in compliance with both the standards of the IEC System of Conformity Assessment Schemes for Electrotechnical Equipment and Components (IECEE) and the Saudi National Differences. The Certificates are valid for one year and require annual renewal. Thus, from July 1, 2021 the following electrical categories of products will require obtaining the IECEE national recognition certificate:

• Electric Water boilers and kettles
• Coffee makers and Coffee making machines
• Electric fryers
• Electric pumps with 5 hp or less
• Electrical cables
• Video game consoles and controllers
• Wireless headsets
• Chargers and other accessories

These measures help to protect the market from knock-off equipment as well as to facilitate the entry of goods through customs ports without the re-inspection and re-testing.
