Chile has launched one of Latin America’s most ambitious regulatory modernizations, introducing mandatory QR codes and digital compliance webpages for nearly all wireless devices. This initiative, driven by the Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones (SUBTEL), is designed to streamline market entry by replacing traditional paper certificates with live, verifiable digital documentation.

Under SUBTEL Resolution Exenta N° 737/2025, which governs the import, distribution, and sale of radio-frequency equipment, these new requirements will take effect in February 2026.

Resolution 737 significantly reduces the compliance workload for most Short-Range Devices (SRDs), such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and RFID equipment:

• No more formal SUBTEL certification: Most SRDs are no longer required to obtain a traditional SUBTEL certificate.
• Mandatory digital compliance: Packaging must include a QR code linking to a dedicated webpage containing the product’s technical documentation.
• Applies to all inventory: Any device sold after February 2026 must meet the QR code requirement, even if previously certified under older regulations.

To align with this new digital model, manufacturers must ensure:

• Documentation
  The original test report must be uploaded. If it contains confidential information, a redacted version with a password must be provided. External links (e.g., to FCC databases) are not allowed.
• QR Code Format
  The content accessed via the QR code must strictly follow SUBTEL’s prescribed display format. No deviations permitted.
• Language Requirements
  ‍All required compliance text on the webpage must appear exactly as specified and solely in Spanish (English versions are not permitted).

Only medical equipment (categories "g" and "h" of the Resolution) will still require traditional SUBTEL certification.

Manufacturers should begin updating packaging and digital documentation systems now to ensure full compliance before the February 2026 deadline.
