The Telecommunication Engineering Center (TEC) of India updated the Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipment (MTCTE) Procedure. The version 2.1 provides new MTCTE labelling requirements. According to these requirements, a certified product should have a TEC certification label on its body and in the accompanying documentation. The TEC certification labeling information must contain the following information:
In the procedure, a new provision appeared. It allows loosening in acceptance of test reports/results from any lab accredited by accreditation bodies under ILAC with some exceptions. However, the test results/test reports submitted can not be older than five years on the date of submission.
In the TEC 93009:2021 “Testing and certification procedure”, they also stated that the dispatch of consignment of Telecom equipment from foreign ports is to be treated as date of import.
The TEC set a transitional period for implementation of the new certification labelling procedure up to November 30, 2021. It is done in order to maintain the supply chain management. Thus, it is possible to use both the previous labelling guidance and the new one up to the end of November, 2021. However, starting from December 2021 it will be mandatory to use the MTC procedure (version 2.1) guidance only.
