In Australia and New Zealand, the requirements for energy consumption products are based on the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (GEMS) Act 2012 and Energy Efficiency (Energy Using Products) Regulations that have иуут been developed within the equipment energy efficiency program (E3).
According to the GEMS Act, energy requirements to the products are specified in Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (GEMS) through the Ministerial determinations (GEMS determinations).
The GMA Consult Group would like to pay your attention to the new GEMS Determination for Air Conditioners above 65kW. The GEMS Determination 2022 specifies the same Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) level and testing requirements for air conditioners above 65 kilowatts (kW) rated capacity as the revoked Determination version 2020. However, the implementation date was changed. The new GEMS Determination becomes effective from October 1, 2022. It is applicable for air‑to‑air single-phase and three-phase air conditioners and single and multi‑split outdoor units that have a rated standard cooling full capacity, or for heating only products, a rated standard heating full capacity, of more than 65kW.
Please, note that starting from October 1, 2022 it is necessary to register all models of air conditioners above 65 kilowatts (kW) rated capacity for marketing them in Australia and New Zealand. The registration of the product is available until October 1, 2022.
